Who these terms are with

WordiBop.com is operated and published by Hamilton Digital Media Limited, registered in England and Wales under company number 15608219, at 13a Mill Lane, Wimborne, Dorset, BH21 1LN, United Kingdom. "We", "us" and "our" mean that company; "you" means anyone using the site. By using WordiBop you accept these terms. If you don't accept them, please don't use the site.

We may update these terms as the site changes — new games, new tools, new obligations. The date above always shows the current version. Continuing to use WordiBop after a change means you accept the revised terms.

What we provide

Free word puzzles that run in your browser. There are no accounts, no subscriptions, and nothing to install: your progress, statistics, streaks and best times are kept by your own browser, as described in our privacy policy. The site is funded by advertising.

We don't promise the site will always be available, that any particular game will stay online, or that a feature you rely on today will still be here next year. Puzzles are generated fresh rather than drawn from a fixed catalogue, so we also can't promise a specific puzzle can be found again later — that's what the copy-link and print options are for.

Playing, printing and sharing

You may play as much as you like, print puzzles from your browser, download our PDF puzzle packs, and share challenge links with anyone. Printed and downloaded puzzles are free to use and copy for personal, family, classroom, library, care-home and similar non-commercial purposes — including photocopying a worksheet for a whole class. You don't need to ask, and there's no limit on how many you make.

What that permission doesn't cover:

• Selling our puzzles, or including them in anything sold — a book, a magazine, a paid worksheet bundle, a paid app or a paid membership.
• Republishing puzzles, clues, word lists or articles on another website or in another product, whether or not money changes hands.
• Removing the wordibop.com credit from a printed puzzle or a PDF pack.
• Automated or bulk collection — scraping, crawling for content, harvesting our word and clue databases, or running scripts to generate puzzles at volume.
• Interfering with the site: attempting to break it, probing it for vulnerabilities, or blocking or tampering with advertising in a way that disrupts the service for others.

If you'd like to do something these terms don't allow — a school fundraiser, a printed compilation, a puzzle for a community newsletter — email us. The answer is usually yes.

Puzzles you make yourself

Our makers let you type your own word list and turn it into a playable or printable puzzle. Those words stay on your device: a shareable play link carries them encoded in the address itself, so nothing you type is stored on our servers or reviewed by us before it appears.

That means you are responsible for the words you enter and for anyone you send a link to. Don't use the makers to produce material that is unlawful, hateful, harassing, obscene, or that infringes someone else's rights. We screen custom word lists against a blocklist, but that is a blunt filter rather than moderation, and it isn't a substitute for your own judgement — particularly if the puzzle is going in front of children.

Treat a shared link as public. Anyone who has it can open the puzzle, links can't be recalled or made to expire, and we have no way to delete one for you. The words you keep in your own browser as a saved draft are yours; you can remove them by clearing this site's data.

What belongs to whom

The site's code, design, artwork, articles, clue database and curated word lists are ours or our licensors', and are protected by copyright. The puzzle formats are not: crosswords, word searches, anagrams, word ladders, hangman and the rest are traditional games that belong to everybody, and we claim no ownership of the ideas — only of our own writing, data and software.

Puzzles you build with our makers, from your own word lists, are yours. Using our makers doesn't give us any claim over your material, and it doesn't give you any claim over ours.

If you believe something on WordiBop infringes your copyright, email us with enough detail to find it and we will look into it promptly.

Advertising and links to other sites

Advertising keeps WordiBop free, and the adverts you see are selected by Google rather than chosen by us — see the privacy policy for how that works and how to change your choices. We also link to other websites, including our own sister puzzle sites. We aren't responsible for the content, products or practices of any site we link to or of any advertiser, and a link is not an endorsement.

Puzzles are generated, and generators are not infallible

Most puzzles here are built by software at the moment you ask for them, from databases we write and check by hand. We test the generators hard — every crossword grid is proved fillable before it is dealt, every codeword is proved solvable by pure logic, and difficulty ratings are measured rather than declared — but no automatic system is perfect. A clue may read awkwardly, an answer may be arguable, or a rare combination may produce a puzzle we would not have chosen.

The site and everything on it is therefore provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, and we don't warrant that puzzles will be error-free or that the site will be uninterrupted or secure. If you find a puzzle that's wrong or unfair, please tell us — that's how they get better.

Our responsibility to you

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot be limited or excluded by law. If you use WordiBop as a consumer, these terms do not affect your statutory rights.

Subject to that, and because WordiBop is provided free of charge, we are not liable for any loss of profit, loss of data, business interruption or any indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of the site, or from being unable to use it.

Younger players

WordiBop is made to be suitable for family and classroom use, and the words we deal are hand-curated with that in mind. There are no player accounts and no sign-up forms anywhere on the site, so we never ask a player for personal details and don't knowingly collect information from children — see the privacy policy for what is collected by our analytics and advertising providers. Puzzles created by other people through our makers are not made by us and are not checked by us; if children are using a shared link, open it yourself first.

Ending access

You can stop using WordiBop at any time; clearing this site's data in your browser removes everything it has kept for you. We may restrict or withdraw access to anyone who breaks these terms, particularly where automated collection or interference is affecting the site for other players.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them. If you live elsewhere in the United Kingdom, you may also bring proceedings in your own jurisdiction.

If any part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest continues to apply.
